terms and conditions
trading, selling and gifting
you are welcome to trade, sell or gift your vasi in any way, shape, form or fashion, as long as i am notified. each vasi will be numbered and kept in a public database. the purchaser will receive a transparent, full-sized version of their vasi upon receipt of payment. it's up to the owner to keep up with this file-- once you receive it, i will likely delete my saved file to make room for the next batch. if you lose it, you'll have to reference the watermarked version that i'll have available in the original deviation. whether the owner chooses to publicly show their un-watermarked version is up to them.
design modification
i happily encourage you to modify your vasi how you like. this, however, requires that you do not change ANY specific traits that the vasi has from the point of sale. one exception to this is if the owner purchases a 'change-a-trait', or someone purchases one specifically for them. this includes purchased pre-made designs, MYOs AND customs. once your design has been approved, if you'd like to provide me with a new image to put in its place in the vasi database, please notify me.
another exception to this rule is common traits. you may change any traits on your vasi to a common trait, and this is available for anyone.
you may not ADD traits without the purchase of an 'add-a-trait' purchasable. without one, you may only exchange traits.
i must approve all design modifications.

you MUST give proper credit for your vasi design. i (boywitch) must be credited as the creator of the species, and you must properly credit the original designer of the vasi (if it is not me). if you are doing fanart for another's vasi, this rule still applies, as well as crediting the owner.
violating terms
anyone caught violating the terms (i.e., refusing to give credit, making their own without permission, stealing already purchased designs, etc.) will be added to a private blacklist. this blacklist will prevent you from being able to purchase, trade or receive vasi as gifts. all artists who have been given permission to create and sell vasi will have access to this blacklist, so that they are aware of who they can and cannot sell to.

vasi information

overview
the vasi is a group of physical humanoid or human-like creatures existing on the planet nuntiru, whose souls are tied to trees or plants. meaning, each vasi has their own individual plant that is growing and living somewhere in the world (be it halfway across the world, depending on their origin, or sometimes potted in their own home so that they can take care of it and assure of its health). the lifespan of each vasi is determined by the type of plant that they're linked to; a vasi will die when their plant dies. they can see through they metaphysical "eyes" of their plants, able to sense what is around them and alerting them to danger when it is near (in the form of fire, unusual activity, etc.). when a vasi's plant is harmed but not killed, the vasi isn't physically affected but feels light pain in their bodies, causing many to relocate or pot their trees. when their plant is weak or sick, they are too. there can exist more than one of each species of plant.

reproduction
when mothers give birth to their children, a small sapling or sprout will split off of the roots of the mother's plant. if there's no room for a new plant to grow on the plot, the mother will either be infertile until space is made or give birth to a weak child. weak children can still be nursed, but must be removed from the plot and potted until they're strong and able to live in their own plot.
gender and sexuality
vasi have three main genders; male, female (both cis and trans) and intersex. intersex vasi typically have a mixture or a lacking of sexual organs (including breasts). vasi refer to them as a third gender, though they don't assign a name to it. most intersex vasi choose their own pronouns, to which the community shows acceptance. they can sometimes reproduce, and sometimes not (and i'd generally like to leave that up to the owner). intersex vasi are uncommon, but not seen any differently.
sexuality is fluid to vasi, generally it means very little. they're raised to be unbiased and taught to love who they like, though some do establish and proudly label their preferences. vasi are open to varying gender identities outside of their binary as well.
beliefs
during the first days of life on nuntiru, the vasi and the dragons that protected the planet formed a quick friendship and then alliance. the dragons are massive, immortal beings, speaking telepathically in their grand dragon form, and verbally in their humanoid form. when humans came to nuntiru and began building, making it their own, they also came in contact with the dragons. naturally, they terrorized them, trying to capture and domesticate them, or hunt them to turn them into trophies. the dragons fled underground, or to their own protected hiding realms, never to be seen again by any human, and very few vasi. the ambassadors that kept the hopes of the people high, though, encouraging them, telling them that the dragons were still there, protecting them, invisible. they still hold festivals and offerings to the dragons, hoping one day they'll return, pleased with the tribute.
traits
the vasi keeps their soul safe in a small glass or crystal-covered cavity on their lower back. the shapes of these cavities have differences in rarity, but they all work the same way. most glow, unless they've been corrupted by an outside source causing them to appear gooey inside of the cavity, and hold a pure black shade. the most common cavity shape is diamond or circular. if enough damage is done to their plant, the cover on the cavity may crack. when a vasi and their plant die, the cover will shatter for the soul to release.
though vasi can have natural skin colors, it's not terribly uncommon for them to have soft, pastel-colored tints to their skin tone. some may blush a soft purple, or their nose may burn blue when they have a cold. freckles, though more uncommon, can have the same colored attributes, though darker, easier to see in the complexion. the more prominent colors come from fruit or flower trees, generally mimicking the shade of their blossoms or fruit. the most common skin tone is any shade of olive, pale or dark, or a lighter shade of their trees bark. vasi have some of their foliage on their bodies, either at the base of their neck draping over their shoulders, hanging from their hips, or tufted around their ankles/wrists. very rarely, a vasi will have foliage in all possible locations. their foliage, along with any head sprout/antlers, will react to the changing seasons just like their tree counterpart.
vasi can sometimes possess animal-like traits, such as ears and tails.most are woodland creatures (foxes, rabbits, bears, sometimes dogs and cats, etc.), but mythicals do exist. some genus of vasi are mixed with dragon blood, giving them dragon-like legendary traits. horns are rare, however.

magic
every vasi has the ability to use magic in one form or another. the simplest form of this is when a vasi focuses their energy into the center of at least one of their palms and presses it to either their own or another's wound to heal it. this is limited, of course, to minor cuts, bruises, body pains, sprains-- things like that. every vasi is capable of doing this if taught. there are more advanced forms of magic, however, that not every vasi is gifted with. the type of magic determines the color of the soul cavity on their lower back. the shade of color does not determine the skill level. the rarest form of magic is reanimation, giving the user the gift of returning life into the deceased.
common: minor healing (green)
uncommon: major healing (purple/pink)
rare: fire (red), water (blue), air (yellow), earth (brown)
legendary: reanimation (white or black)
others
a vasi who lives in a humid, damp or watery environment is likely to grow moss on their feet/legs, and/or sprout mushrooms and different fungi from parts of their body. some vasi consider this dirty and do their best to "groom" themselves of these growths, while others embrace the naturalness of it.
toxic waist/radiation
you can't always help what neighborhood you grew up in. sometimes things poison the environment... but won't quite kill a vasi's tree. this causes mutations and otherworldly traits. this generally doesn't threaten the vasi's physical health, but can sometimes hinder their everyday activity.
